Susan's actions
Kitchen
Use a Reusable Mug
If possible, I will avoid sending 1 disposable cup(s) to the landfill per day by using a reusable mug or bringing my own travel cup.
Bathroom
Green Beauty
When it's time to buy more, I will replace my beauty products with refillable, sustainable, and/or DIY options.
Kitchen
Fill a Water Bottle
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Kitchen
Go Strawless
I will keep 2 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own reusable straw.
Kitchen
Choose Reusable Food Storage
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Kitchen
Plant a Garden
I will plant an herb or vegetable garden using as little plastic as possible and to save from the plastic used buying herbs and veggies.
Kitchen
Clean Plate Club
When I need to replace my dish soap, I will switch to a bar or refillable option.
Kitchen
Cook a Plastic Free Meal
I will prepare meals at home each day without using any items packaged in single-use plastic.
Kitchen
Skip Plastic Bags
When possible, I will not use disposable bags when shopping, including produce bags.
Community
Share My Actions
I will make my environmental actions visible by sharing about them on my social media networks and the Plastic Free Ecochallenge participant feed.
Study
Say No to Styrofoam
Throughout its life cycle, polystyrene (styrofoam) can harm people, communities, and the planet. I will refuse styrofoam whenever I can, making sure to kindly let people know why I'm asking for alternative packaging.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Susan Bonnell 7/15/2023 1:43 PMI’ve asked Dion’s to skip supplying plastic utensils when I order carry out. But I’ve found out that it’s best to check the order to be sure those pesky plastic forks and knives haven’t found their way into my carry out bag — which I’m sorry to say is also plastic.-
Makenna Griffith 7/15/2023 6:00 PMStart bringing a lunchbox/reusable grocery bag and switch? Or re use the bag at home :)

Susan Bonnell 7/15/2023 1:37 PMI went to lunch with friends and one of them brought her own container to take home her uneaten food. That seems like a good idea to me, especially if the restaurant uses styrofoam for guests’ leftovers. -
Susan Bonnell 7/11/2023 4:23 PMThe Range no longer uses paper straws or even asks if diners want straws. That’s a disappointment, though there were five in my group for dinner on Sunday and we left all the straws unused. Small success. -
Susan Bonnell 7/04/2023 6:06 PMDisappointed to see the return of plastic straws in many restaurants. Would like to see the BioPark take the lead by providing paper straws or selling reusables with the purchase of drinks.
