I will continue my evening trash walks past this month - as well as writing companies of products I use. Most if all, I will try to keep the heightened awareness from this month in the forefront of my mind in succeeding months and years.

I had this conversation just the other day with someone whose staff do not recycle nor see any problem with the volumes of plastic cutlery and paper plates that are bought for break rooms. We talked about how to start with small things like recycle bins being placed in each space and signage encouraging their use. Then I figure we can talk to...

I am not a big user of social media. That said, I know that social media, in all its varied forms, are wide-reaching. A single, small idea can mushroom overnight into something big. By strategically saying things in certain places, the words or ideas catch on - just because one person shared them - which is then exponentially viewed.

Zero waste meals require a bit more planning, but I actually like that part. It makes me want to be more intentional with other areas in my life.

Finn and Munch are our two tuxedo cats who love food and treats. Finding random whiskers around the house is the funniest part of my day.

Today is the last day of PFJ, so I’m sharing my favorite line learned in the last five years: RECYCLE should be the last option. Change starts long before we try to turn plastics back into something new, so use your voice and buying power to make change.

What I learned most from this video is that individual action is not the key to success. Instead, it is corporate greed that is pushing the plastic consumption agenda. By continuing to use buyer power and “contact us” pages, I will try to use my voice to encourage companies to make the change needed.

It was interesting to learn about the different types of plastics and their uses. I did have to feel a little impressed that these things were designed by humans to meet a lot of needs. Unfortunately, no we are overrunning ourselves with plastic waste. Knowing what numbers your local recycling hauler takes is important to prevent aspirational...
