Some eating establishments supply straws if they are requested. And, am seeing more places that utilize biodegradable straws now.

What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

Humans are only one of many species living on this planet. To think we have the right to waste it's resources, pollute it's air and destroy environments just because it suits us, or is profitable is an incredibly arrogant mistake. We humans must make choices, as a whole, that radically change our  current attitudes towards the environment! Our very lives and the life of the planet depend on these choices starting today!

Reenie, you can retroactively "check in", use these instructions!

      FAQs
      can i check in retroactively?
All of our public events allow users to check in retroactively for a specified number of days. The length of the retroactive check-in window for Plastic Free Ecochallenge is 7 days, and thus you will be able to check in for actions you completed up to seven days in the past. To do this, use the arrows next to the date at the top of your Dashboard to navigate to the previous day you would like to check in for. Once you see the date you'd like to record an action for, check in as you normally would.

I always try to be aware of what I can do to not use plastic! Ecochallenge has shown me some new ideas on how to accomplish more!

Everyday I go to work, my lunch is pack in a glass bowl and I bring my own silver ware.  This is carried in a reusable lunch bag.  After work last year, during the eco challenge,  I meet my coworkers at a restaurant.  When I found out they served the food on styrofoam plates and utencils; I went back to my car for my lunch bag.  I had them put my salad in the washed glass bowl form  lunch.  Used my silver ware in my lunch bag.  Plus I had a resuable cup and metal straw that I used for water.  Pouring from a plastic pitcher that was for our table.
