    Hi team!!! Catching up!!!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Use Reusable Water Bottles
Using the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?

    Beth Almy 7/28/2020 4:49 PM
Don't buy bottled water, lobby governments for clean water access for all
  • Reflection Question
Food Say No to Plastic Bags
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

    Beth Almy 7/28/2020 4:38 PM
I am typically pretty good about declining bags, bringing my own or asking for paper, so this one isn't too hard.

  • Beth Almy 7/15/2020 5:17 AM
Sadly, because of COVID, I have chosen to use a straw if I have picked up food/beverages from a restaurant. I try to eliminate any additional items, but there are times it just feels more sanitary to use the straw. I have tried to do better about making sure I have reusable straws handy in my car.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Skip the Straw
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

    Beth Almy 7/15/2020 5:12 AM
I see more reusable straws easily available for purchase, which is great. If something is easy to access, people are more likely to use one.

  • Beth Almy 7/12/2020 11:34 AM
Fine so far. Definitely realizing areas where I can improve.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

    Beth Almy 7/12/2020 11:34 AM
I am terrible at keeping plants alive, so when I am able to actually grow something and eat it, I feel a great sense of accomplishment! My favorite thing to grow is zucchini.
  • Reflection Question
    Family Plastic Free Lunch Boxes
Most of us know that the "3 R's" are reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling is most heavily emphasized in modern Western culture. How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Beth Almy 7/12/2020 11:32 AM
Already doing this, whether it is with consumables or things like furniture and clothing. Thrifting and repurposing are something my family really enjoys doing.
  • Reflection Question
Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Since the restrictions that COVID-19 has required of our society, trying to use your own cup might present new barriers, as well as new opportunities for creative problem solving. How were you able to achieve success on this action? How can you make it a long-term habit?

    Beth Almy 7/12/2020 11:27 AM
Trying to get my drinks and food from home as often as I can. I typically go home for lunch, reducing my need for packing lunch or buying anything out.

  • Beth Almy 7/09/2020 11:07 AM
Not always remembering to log, but definitely making more intentional choices.
