Reflection QuestionFood Cook a Zero-Plastic Waste MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Angelica Balbuena 7/31/2020 4:52 AMI used loads of boxes for refrigerating food or store them in the cupboard if they're made of plastic. As an alternative, I used loads of glass storage. Switching to alternatives like glass or bamboo storage is also helping me clean up the kitchen cupboard, get a better overview what I have and food won't be wasted. -
Angelica Balbuena 7/31/2020 4:49 AMThis challenge was incredible! At the beginning of the month, I wasn't sure if I could manage all of the actions. It wasn't always easy the whole time, but I managed to go through it with my flatmates together. I will def keep loads of those actions in mind and keep them going :) -
Reflection QuestionFood Make My OwnHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Angelica Balbuena 7/16/2020 9:20 AMI am feeling great! It is a fantastic feeling to know what exactly is in the product you just created, produced. The way how many things are made so easy is crazy and the fact you are saving so much money while having fun is absolutely worth the time :) -
Reflection QuestionFamily Discover TogetherWhat concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.
Angelica Balbuena 7/16/2020 9:18 AMMost concerning is the future. The world, the climate, the environment we live in right now won't be there anymore in the future and it is mad we don't know what is going to happen if we are not trying to help the planet recover from everything we have done in the past.
I hope staying at home, being more aware of our nature and environment is helping to reduce the damage we have done before. -
Reflection QuestionCommunity Join a Cleanup EffortHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
Angelica Balbuena 7/16/2020 9:16 AMIt's great to see so many people trying their best to keep everything clean in the area. I feel more comfortable being outside and I am getting in touch with a lot of my neighbours I haven't talked to before. -
Reflection QuestionCommunity Estimate My Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Angelica Balbuena 7/16/2020 9:15 AMIt's astonishing how much you and your house are using plastic. It's so easy to reduce it in a sustainable way and great how good it feels getting rid of the plastic (recycling it)in the house. -
Reflection QuestionLifestyle Buy Only What I NeedAs you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?
Angelica Balbuena 7/16/2020 9:14 AMChoosing more sustainable alternatives which might be also better for your health are great! I am more focused and aware of the ingredients, the process to produce the product and therefore more aware of what to buy. -
Reflection QuestionCommunity Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Angelica Balbuena 7/07/2020 6:56 AMAfter a week of collecting trash, I am amazed how many people see you walking around with a trash bag and help you to clean up! Doing this for the community is great and connecting me with other eco-minded people.
