I wish that this challenge wasn't almost over! Also, I wish we could get more people to participate because once you start going plastic free it isn't that hard to continue doing so! I am bummed at myself that I had to go buy lunch today since I didn't have anything at home but am proud that for one whole month I only bought food once (bummed due to the packaging). Thanks to Liz for being a rockstar captain!!

I was thinking the same thing! I wish we could keep this going all year round!

    Food Make My Own
How do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?

I honestly still don't like it lol I am very grateful that my partner is an incredible cook and absolutely loves doing it. I will confess that when I am alone and having to cook for myself I will make myself something "fancier" and I do feel empowered. Until I have to do the dishes...

How can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?

Choosing to mix and match items in creative ways especially with a statement piece is my favorite way to express myself!

What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

Money wise a steel razor is definitely an investment. But if you budget for it ahead of time and think of the money you spend yearly on plastic razors the long term savings will be with buying a steel razor. Lots of people though do not have that option and need to buy what is cheaper in the present moment. I don't think there was ever a need for disposable, just a marketing ploy to sell more razors (ugh)

I forgot my reusable silverware in the dishwasher this AM (shame) but remembered that I had saved a plastic fork a while back so reused that and washed it (who am i kidding... I just licked it clean) and will reuse again in the future!

What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

Economic benefits: Long term I feel that it is cheaper but short term it can be more expensive which is def a barrier
Personal benefits: Learning more about where my products come from, taking accountability for my personal plastic use, connecting with others

Ugh really wanted to start going out to clean up during my lunch but due to injury that will have to wait - goal is to integrate a 5-10 min pick up trash session at the end of my lunch break!

I was SO inspired by Alex when I saw her picking up trash during the last bit of her lunch break. On my way back in I joined in and picked up some trash too. Thanks for being so awesome, Alex!!

Have been buying single use yogurt containers (for ease to bring to work since I always forget to eat bfast) but this time purchased a larger container instead of the individual cups. Still plastic - but is less in the long run. Hoping to eventually find those glass yogurt containers OR buy it from the local farmer at the farmers market that advertises that I can bring the container back for them to reuse.
