The last day of July.  It was a good run; will work to keep the learnings and messages of this month front of mind in the days ahead.

Saw the post about personal products from nativecos.com.  They came highly recommended.  I am a brick and mortar shopper fir the most part - am going to visit our local store that is known for organic things and see what they have on the way of plastic free - Tom’s of Maine is my hope, as I know their products are in the big grocery stores.

Printed out the recycling graphic for our town -  what can be recycled is so different than the list for my father’s town

I have a printed copy of mine on my recycling bin in my pantry. That way anybody who is in my house knows what can and can't go into that barrel.

Went to our local farm stand today.  Found loose carrots @ $1/lb and brought my own bag. A good day!

Went to a local grocery store and saw carrots in bunches - which is great because they make good afternoon snack foods.  Burst the bubble of happiness when the cashier rang up $4.99 for 7 carrots😔

The scale and scope of what we, as a supposed first world country, are doing to our planet.  We need lots of people consistently being aware and changing behaviors - partnered with the large companies who produce the products we consume to make significant changes and to encourage and challenge other conglomerates to make changes - all while NOT raising prices.

Watched the House hearings today on the January 6th storming of the Capitol and found a small part of my brain that wasn’t horrified by what was happening concentrating on the single use water bottles beside those testifying and wondering if on the future we could go back to glasses and a pitcher,

We watched Divided in Concord.  An 84 year old grandmother pushed to get through town meeting a ban on single use  plastic water bottles.  It took her three years, but with the help of youth who registered to vote the first time, the measure passed.  Concord is our neighboring town; proud of what they did - so sad to see the struggle it took to get there and disturbing to know there are still people in Concord who want the measure repealed.

Yesterday went to have ice cream and the stand used wood spoons and recyclable containers.  Also managed to buy a stapler that was all metal.
