A shout-out to my friends Charlie and Dakota, cofounders of the nonprofit organization Heirs to Our Oceans -
“We are youth activists organizing around 🌊#climateaction & the #humanitariancrises🗣 we are inheriting to make real-world change. Heirs To Our Oceans are the next generation and the future generations who will inherit this planet and all that comes with it…. after your generation is done with it.“

I came across a yard with hummingbird feeders made from soy sauce bottles and wire hangers. The bottles with red caps were fulled with liquid and turned upside down. The wire from the hangers were twisted around the bottles and hung on trees.

Here are some of the switches my family made - wool balls, dental floss in glass containers, reusable drinking straws and ziplock bags, and mom’s teapot for loose leaf tea.

Currently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?

I chew xylitol gum to neutralize bacteria and help strengthen my teeth. I also chew gum because I’m not supposed to (braces). I’m a little bit of a rebel that way. 😎  Shhhh don’t tell my orthodontist 🤫

I’ve seen plastic bottles and dish soap containers being used as planter boxes and pots! People even add yarn or string to make hanging plants 😎

Finally used up our last bottles of liquid bath wash and switched to bar soap that comes in cardboard boxes! The good news - there are less harmful ingredients and preservatives in bar soaps.
