Mirela Dinu 7/18/2020 2:21 PM18 days in and I´m at that point where, if I forget my reusable bottle of water at home I will just die of thirst before buying a plastic bottle, and it feels wonderful.-

Reflection QuestionCommunity Host a Watch PartyHow does hosting a watch party help you to get to know your guests, connect them to the cause you are focusing on, and build your community?
Mirela Dinu 7/18/2020 2:16 PMBonding with my 11 yeas old nephew is something I love doing, so I decided to watch´´A plastic ocean´´, for the second time, with him. We often discuss about climate change, our environment and plastic. He understands how our actions affect our planet, how and why some species go extinct and so on,but he was surprised to learn that we recycle just a small percentage of the plastic that we produce. I know school plays it´s part in educating the younger generation but it also is our job to contribute to that, by leading by example. -
Reflection QuestionCommunity Estimate My Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Mirela Dinu 7/08/2020 3:44 PMI truly did not believe I was actually generating a big amount of plastic waste. It definitely made me switch to more eco-friendly packages, especially when purchasing supermarket products.-
Mirela Dinu 7/31/2020 9:25 AMNow, I avoid buying fruits or vegetables wrapped up in plastic, also gave up using plastic gloves and plastic bags. It doesn´t make any sense to use gloves as long as you wash or peel them off before eating. I always ask if they have alternatives for plastic and if they don´t, I´ll carry my fruits and drop them on the counter. I apologize as my apples roll all over the place :)) -
Nidhi Kaul 7/29/2020 6:59 PM100% agree, why is plastic so prevalent in food (ex: banana peels are nature's wrapping, yet we still use plastic bags for them)!

Reflection QuestionPersonal Care Brusha Brusha BrushaWhat are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?
Mirela Dinu 7/05/2020 2:14 PMMost bamboo forests have been cleared out and the habitat loss is one of the reasons why pandas are endangered.
While switching to bamboo made products, are we not contributing to that as well?!-
Dana Jennings 7/21/2020 9:28 AMI see your point. Bamboo is generally considered a renewable product because it grows back so quickly and is natural for biodegrading. Do you have a product you'd recommend?
