I chose to join the eco challenge because my mom encouraged me to, I did it last year and I wasn’t as into it as I am today. I really enjoy doing the eco challenge because it brings light to things that I wouldn’t have known before this. I chose the actions I chose because those i things I do in my daily life and things I hope I can do better.
  • Reflection Question
    Family Glass Bottle Baby
How can you take your commitment to sustainable living beyond yourself and your family? How can you, personally, work toward broader change?

Well I can reach out to my friends and show them that glass and stainless steel bottles are better than plastic.
  • Reflection Question
Personal Care That Was a Close Shave
What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

    Kiana Dullanty's avatar
    Kiana Dullanty 7/02/2021 6:54 PM
I don’t think there really was a need for disposable razors, I think it was just easier for people.
  • Reflection Question
    Personal Care Dam the Flow
Disposable tampons and menstrual pads are often quite expensive. What are the economic and personal benefits of this switch for you?

    Kiana Dullanty's avatar
    Kiana Dullanty 7/02/2021 6:52 PM
It will help not having to always buy the menstrual things I need, and so that it’s always here when I need it if I ever run out.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Give Up Gum
Why do you chew gum? What habits could replace and meet your reasons for chewing gum?

    Kiana Dullanty's avatar
    Kiana Dullanty 7/02/2021 6:51 PM
I chew gum to make sure that my breath is fresh, but I can start using mints in steal tins instead of gum.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

    Kiana Dullanty's avatar
    Kiana Dullanty 7/02/2021 6:50 PM
I think that it will be good because we won’t always need to go to the store for things, and it just helps us be more independent.
  • Reflection Question
    Personal Care Lather Up
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

    Kiana Dullanty's avatar
    Kiana Dullanty 7/01/2021 8:08 PM
A lot less waste, and you are not wasting as much product as you would with a plastic bottle.
  • Reflection Question
Personal Care Say No to "Flushable Wipes"
Even though they are marketed as "flushable," disposable wipes do not disintegrate in water or the sewer system, and actually release microplastics into our waterways. How does it feel to learn this information? What do you want to do about it?

    Kiana Dullanty's avatar
    Kiana Dullanty 7/01/2021 8:07 PM
It’s very sad to know, and sad that many people don’t understand that it hurts the environment. I will be sure to share this but of knowledge.
  • Reflection Question
Lifestyle Buy Only What I Need
As you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?

As a family we only purchase what we need and this has very much rubbed off on me so when I’m older this will help my finances.
