I hoping that some of the things I've done in the past 30 days to reduce my use of plastics become habit forming.

Do some research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. After reading the side effects, can you think of instances where you may have experienced the side effects from this form of deodorant?

I have experienced no side effects from using aluminum deodorant. I did a bit of research on this subject and you can find those you claim aluminum causes breast cancer and Alzheimer's and you can others who claim that the concentration of aluminum isn't enough to do any damage. It's up to you to do your own research and draw you own conclusion. Aluminum basically plugs your sweat glands, whereas deodorants reduce your body odor. Ultimately, it's your choice.

My attitude has changed towards buying new items. I know ask myself, "Do I really need this? Do I already have something that will serve the same purpose? Can I borrow it from a friend or family member instead of buying it brand new?" This has reduced the amount of waste I produce and saved me money!

Check out this website on the great uses for baking soda from cleaning to washing hair to deodorant - https://myplasticfreelife.com/2009/11/baking-soda-so-many-uses-so-little-money-and-plastic/ - and bonus it comes in paper packaging!

I went grocery shopping this evening and brought my own reusable bags and containers for produce. The produce guy applauded me and the checkout lady was annoyed with me. Doing what I can!

I took my great niece and nephew to the park yesterday and after about an hour of playing, we picked up an entire bag of garbage. It's so sad to see people use the park and then just leave their garbage and litter behind. We also picked up about a bag of aluminum cans and water bottles and dropped them off at the recycling center. The six-year-old asked why people didn't pick up after themselves. Here's to setting a better example for the next generation!

Here are some simple ways to avoid plastic waste in your makeup routine and makeup bag:
    1. Simplify your makeup routine
    2. Purchase items packaged in bamboo, glass, metal or paper
    3. Choose double duty items such as eyeshadow/eyeliner
    4. Look for refillable options
    5. Replace old brushes with wooden ones
    6. Make your own

We've been trying to reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. I suggest borrowing, renting or sharing items that are used infrequently, like party decorations, tools, camping equipment, or specialty furniture.

My herb garden and tomatoes are growing like weeds. Love using the herbs and can't wait for the tomatoes to be ready!
