I was at a group activity today and picked up a lot of trash off the floor.

Not doing as well as I would like.  At a cabin in the woods with no dishwasher so using plastic ware and paper plates too much.

For me, it's about weight loss since I've put on the COVID 5 to 10.

    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

I think the packaging is to prevent damage to the produce that makes it look less than perfect.  People are so caught up in looks even if it basically tastes the same.  Too many consumers know nothing really about growing produce.  Sometimes the best ripe produce may be a bit bruised.

I have had out of town guests and have not been able to focus on my tasks as much as I would like to.  I hope now that they are gone I can make more of a difference in the next week.

Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

Sorry, can't really say that I have heard much but the example is being set at stores that are using only paper straws.  I keep a reusable straw in my car.

Living in a clean community is important to me. I actually drove through the area north of Patterson Park yesterday and the trash on the streets was awful.  Made me realize how proud I am of my own community.

My grandchildren are 4, 3, 2, and 1.  Your idea is great!  We'll see if I could pull that off with the oldest.

I have enjoyed picking up trash with "grabbers" with my grandchildren. We did it as an activity over Covid and they loved it. We have cleaned out a park and a playground at their suggestion. It's like a scavenger hunt for them. (Ages 3, 5, and 7). You can get the grabbers at most pharmacies in the area for braces and canes. It keeps the kids safe from trash. I have the gloves and trash bag.

My awareness is definitely heightened but I would like to be doing more to stop using plastic.

Most of us know that the "3 R's" are reduce, reuse, recycle. Recycling is most heavily emphasized in modern Western culture. How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

Refusing straws at any eatery is a simple way to start.  I'm proud of myself she I do this.
