  • Reflection Question
    Food Give Up Gum
Why do you chew gum? What habits could replace and meet your reasons for chewing gum?

Chewing gum is often used to freshen one's breath.  But mints can work just as well, even better.
  • Reflection Question
    Lifestyle Proper Bioplastic Disposal
What concerns you the most about how we are affecting the planet? Consider both local and global actions.

I am most concerned and upset when I learn that people's careless actions affect animals and their habitat.
  • Reflection Question
Personal Care Donate Zero Waste Period Products
How can having access to zero waste period products help people who menstruate overcome barriers to education or other opportunities?

    Christina Gonzalez's avatar

Women are freed from being dependent on costly products. This in turn gives them more options for how they can use the money they don't have to spend on these products.
  • Reflection Question
Community Estimate My Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutral
What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

    Christina Gonzalez's avatar
    Christina Gonzalez 7/31/2021 6:16 PM
I found that even though I am doing much better than most, there is still a lot I could do.
  • Reflection Question
    Community Write Letters or Emails
How might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems - like plastic pollution - differently?

    Christina Gonzalez's avatar
    Christina Gonzalez 7/31/2021 3:26 PM
People who have the power to make changes at a state and national level can help engage think tanks and other individuals to help reduce our plastic addiction.
  • Reflection Question
    Community Sign a Petition
What is a plastic-related issue in your state/province?

    Christina Gonzalez 7/31/2021 3:24 PM
Too many plastic items are not disposed of properly and there are too many kinds that are not recyclable.
  • Reflection Question
    Lifestyle Travel Toiletries
What is the benefit of using bar soaps or refilling your travel sized containers? Is this an action you think you will keep in your life?

    Christina Gonzalez's avatar
    Christina Gonzalez 7/31/2021 3:23 PM
Less plastic is created if more people use bar soaps and refill travel size containers vs buying new ones each time.  I will definitely continue to do this action.
  • Reflection Question
    Lifestyle Ditch Dryer Sheets
Often, single-use and disposable products don't just create more trash - they also contain toxins that are bad for humans. What are some other single-use items that are harmful to humans?

    Christina Gonzalez's avatar

    Disenfecting wipes of all kinds.
  • Reflection Question

Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

Unfortunately the majority of the trash I have picked up in the zoo during this month have been plastic straws and their paper covers.  I hope the BioPark returns to no or paper straws.

It was pretty easy to avoid plastic utensils and bags and packing travel snacks in reusable containers was easy too.
