    Community Keep My Community Clean
How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

Picking up litter has made me more conscious of how much human waste is hidden around our community. Sometimes finding one piece of garbage by a bush leads to an entire trash can full. I feel better for cleaning up the loose debris, but it is disheartening to see the trash there in the first place.

How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

The hardest part for me is remembering to bring and use my reusable bags. I have plenty of them, but I usually forget them in my house or car. I've been trying to place them on top of important things, like my keys, to help me remember to use them.

What have you noticed about the economic and social impact of switching to steel razors? Was there ever really a need for disposable razors, or do you think it was just a way to sell more things?

While disposable razors are needed in certain circumstances for health reasons, most of their demand is out of convenience. Hopefully, with more people becoming aware of their waste's impact, those who can switch to a steel razor will.

What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

I can reduce most of the plastic waste I create by making smarter choices about what food, especially snacks, I buy. I tend to buy a lot of individually wrapped snacks, which adds up to a bunch of plastic very quickly.

What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

Using the calculator really made me think about what I was purchasing and how often. I was surprised to see how much I used compared to the average person.

Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

I find that more and more people are conscious of the impact of using disposable straws. I carry one to work and know that many people have them in their purses or lunchboxes too. Videos of animals being directly impacted by our waste has moved many people to make changes in their lives.

I was just about to buy more disposable razor heads, but I decided to make the switch to a steel, eco-friendly razor instead
