Personal Care

Pearly Whites

I will purchase toothpaste in an aluminum tube or in a glass jar or make my own!

One-Time Action

Join a Cleanup Effort

I will host or participate in a beach, highway, river, or other cleanup effort in my community that follows the CDC’s current guidelines for prevention of disease transfer.

One-Time Action

Prevent Recycling Contamination

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will spend 30 minutes researching which materials are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community and recycle only those items.

Currently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?

Ive been trying the chewable toothpaste. I recommend it whenever I can.

What have you learned about what is accepted by local haulers for recycling, what you can drop off or ship to certain places, and what is not recyclable in your area? What is the most difficult part of recycling for you?

I learned that you need to follow the list given to you by your local recycler.  Also that even though you think it’s ok to throw anything with the arrow symbol in the bin, it’s sorting those things out that help drive up the price of recycling. That is probably the hardest part for me, throwing out things my company doesn’t take.

It feels good to know that you’re not alone in wanting to help the environment. It feels like you can actually make a difference!
