Sue's Actions
Food
Use Reusable Water Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 1 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Say No to Plastic Bags
If at all possible, I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Lifestyle
Reusable Face Coverings
Disposable masks are made of mixed materials and not recyclable. When possible, I will reduce my waste while protecting myself and others by wearing a reusable face covering when in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
Lifestyle
Complete a Waste Audit
I will conduct a waste audit - including recyclables and compost - to understand how much waste I create and where I can reduce the most.
Personal Care
Fresh as a Daisy
I will use deodorant either from a bar or a jar or I will make my own.
Food
Use Reusable Containers
I will only use reusable containers instead of single-use plastic storage items (such as plastic wrap, single-use sandwich bags).
Community
Share My Actions
I will post to my social media networks about how reducing our plastic use is important for both environmental justice and conservation.
Community
Estimate My Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutral
I will visit rePurpose website, complete the 3-minute plastic consumption calculator, and explore how I can reBalance my annual plastic footprint.
Food
Skip the Straw
I will keep 1 plastic straw(s) out of the landfill per day by refusing straws or using my own glass/metal straw.

Sue Howard 6/18/2020 9:35 PMIdon't buy water in plastic disposable bottles. Buy one large bottle of flavored water in plastic per week to mix with tap water for better taste, but then recucle the bottle.-

Reflection QuestionFood Skip the StrawHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Sue Howard 6/18/2020 9:31 PMI don't use plastic straws or any straws at home and will not use plastic straws away from home.-
Shasta Bray 6/30/2020 11:23 AMNice! And I love that I'm seeing more reusable straws for sale at mainstream stores like Target and Meijer these days. If you like using a straw, it really doesn't take that much time or effort to wash a reusable one. I just stick mine in the dishwasher with my utensils.
