  • Reflection Question
    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

    Rebecca Hughes 8/06/2020 9:22 AM
It was tough, but I kept a basil plant alive all summer and didn't have to buy basil for my pasta dishes!
  • Reflection Question
    Lifestyle Watch a Documentary
Which documentary did you choose to watch? What did you learn?

    Rebecca Hughes 7/29/2020 8:00 AM
There are many new documentaries on Netflix that have been very enlightening - I am grateful to live in a time where knowledge is so easily accessible! Now we just need to figure out how to make sure all that information is accurate and mostly unbiased...
  • Reflection Question
Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Since the restrictions that COVID-19 has required of our society, trying to use your own cup might present new barriers, as well as new opportunities for creative problem solving. How were you able to achieve success on this action? How can you make it a long-term habit?

    Rebecca Hughes 7/21/2020 8:28 AM
It has been tough - no one wants to fill reusable cups from strangers. I have persisted and make sure that my cup is clean and dry before getting to the counter to order.

I haven't been great about logging in daily, but I am excited to keep working on reducing my plastic consumption!
  • Reflection Question
Community Estimate My Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutral
What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

    Rebecca Hughes 7/05/2020 2:08 PM
I do like the assessment from the rePurpose questionnaire, but I wish they provided actual resources to help reduce plastic use, in addition to providing an option to donate to their programs.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Skip the Straw
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

    Rebecca Hughes 7/05/2020 1:55 PM
Many of the servers at restaurants I frequent will automatically offer straws, but since I have started refusing them, I've overheard them start to ask other tables if they need straws instead of just leaving them on the table.
