This has been the highlight of the month. I’m so excited to incorporate some lifestyle changes beyond this challenge!

Today I replaced ALL shower products with a soap bar, shampoo bar, and conditioner bar. PLASTIC FREE. The understatement is that I’m excited. 💪🏼🌱 This Plastic-Free challenge has prompted some awesome changes.

What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

Personal Benefits: I'm starting to use products that are safer and healthier for my skin and hair! I was super excited to pick out bar shampoo and conditioner to jump start this new habit. :) We are more intentional about beauty products that we are purchasing, and it will save us money in the long run!
Economic: I am helping to eliminate plastic bottles from my purchases, and this has a ripple effect with friends and family.

How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

Taking time to pick up litter around my home, work, and community helps me to take ownership in the spaces that I live, work, and thrive. I have also noticed that when I am intentional about picking up trash I see, the people around me follow suit! I was on a walk with my cousin and brought along a trash bag. He asked a lot of questions, but then he joined in!

Did something new: ordered plastic-free shampoo and conditioner bars to replace all the random bottles in my shower. When they arrive, I’ll be excited to see how many plastic bottles I’ll be eliminating from my little home...

What a gift! My mother-in-law sent some goodies! I’ve been looking into alternative options for cleaning supplies and other household goods that share the same plastic-free mission. Shoutout to Grove Collaborative and Mrs. Meyers brands! I SUPER excited to slowly replace my cleaning supplies and hygiene products with better products that I’m learning about. What an awesome surprise to end the work day ❤️🙌🌊♻️

Conservation efforts, “going green,” or eco-friendly choices were never really in the picture for my family while I was growing up. This challenge has been incredibly insightful and it’s helping my husband and I re-think a lot of our lifestyle habits and choices. We’re excited to keep trucking through this challenge! ♻️🌊

Every little bit counts and seeing you want to do the work is the best part. It's easier than people think but it can be hard to start. Thank you for working on becoming more sustainable and learning how you can help with the bigger picture.
