REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroom Pearly WhitesCurrently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?
Dina Lomagno 7/28/2023 9:57 PMTrying the latest and greatest natural toothpaste from a local company here, if you buy from them the initial cost covers the glass container and they allow refills at half off. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBathroom Eco DeodorantDo some research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. After reading the side effects, can you think of instances where you may have experienced the side effects from this form of deodorant?
Dina Lomagno 7/25/2023 9:52 PMI was skeptical about this one, especially in the Las Vegas heat but it seems to be working...or no one has told me I smell yet lol! :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using reusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable food packaging or eating utensils, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Dina Lomagno 7/23/2023 10:40 PMThis one was a challenge as I was concerned about bringing silverware with me and how to store/clean it but my friend came up with a great idea! She bought some recycled chopsticks for all of us with pouches so we can carry them around, I love it! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Cook a Plastic Free MealDo an inventory of your kitchen to see how many single-use plastics you've used in the past. What are some resuable alternatives to these commonly used products? What would your impact be if you switched all the single-use products from your inventory to reusable?
Dina Lomagno 7/23/2023 10:38 PMTonight everything we utilized in our dinner was from the gardens in the neighborhood. We started doing vegetarian nights so there is zero waste! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroom Eco DetergentWas this an easy or difficult swap for you to make? Did you have any concerns before making the swap?
Dina Lomagno 7/23/2023 10:35 PMToday we start our new journey utilizing glass bottles for our laundry and detergent that we can refill weekly at the farmers market. Hoping it's a successful journey! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBedroom Ditch Dryer SheetsOften, single-use and disposable products don't just create more trash - they also contain toxins that are bad for humans. What are some other single-use items that are harmful to humans?
Dina Lomagno 7/16/2023 10:39 PMAfter seeing someone else post about this, we picked up a reusable dryer ball from the farmers market. If this works I think we will be purchasing their refillable glass containers for soap as well. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Choose Reusable Food StorageHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Dina Lomagno 7/16/2023 10:38 PMWe were already utilizing glass containers for leftover food but in order to reduce/replace our ziploc bags for travel we purchased the silicone containers that are light and flexible.-
Dina Lomagno 7/18/2023 12:56 PMKimberly, we just bought the larger package that has all the different sizes, I'm already loving these! -
Kimberly Lombardozzi 7/17/2023 8:36 AMI've got the silicone bags in 3 sizes and love them. I've also got the lid covers in 3 or 4 sizes and use them all the time. It really does help cut down on the plastic!

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Fill a Water BottleUsing the links provided, investigate the bottling practices of water corporations. There have been many cases where the water rights of the local people have been violated or even completely disregarded when a corporation decides to bottle water from a particular water source. How can you advocate for those who have been harmed by this bottling process?
Dina Lomagno 7/13/2023 10:28 AMI am big on taking my Yeti with me everywhere, I have 2 so I can always have one available when mine is being washed...but lately my husband has been thieving it so thank you Amazon Prime Day I now have 4 so absolutely no excuse to have plastic bottles! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Try a New RecipeHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Dina Lomagno 7/11/2023 11:18 AMThis one has been fun, it's made me break out all the cookbooks I've been holding on to. It allows me to know what is in my food as everything is fresh from the farmers market and a local eco butcher! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Go StrawlessHave you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.
Dina Lomagno 7/11/2023 11:17 AMI wanted to put in the number "10" as my whole friend group checked in today for strawless day but it didn't go that high! lol....
