One area I am lacking in is advocacy and it's been a personal commitment (well, it was also a commitment to Barry's new baby at the baby shower) that I would get more involved in this area.

I would encourage people to sign up for the Zero Waste Washington newsletter as they send out information on how to get involved with very informative details on our state legislative sessions and bills they are supporting.

    Food Make My Own
How do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?

I am excited about trying new techniques and making more of my own staples.

OMG, it took me WAY too long to figure that out.  Is there a better way I am missing?  I'd love to see all the posts, in full, in one place.

I made my own mayonnaise last night.  It's fun as you can customize the flavors just how you like it.  No more mayo vs. Miracle Whip debates, make your own.

Liesl, I fell in love with black garlic already.  In a mayo?  That sounds dangerous.  I would spend every meal finding excuses for mayo.

I actually used Kari and Tom's recipe as my guideline and then did my own twists.  So easy, so good.

You and Tom Quigley should have a homemade mayonnaise competition when this is all over! Ask Kari for her black garlic mayo recipe - AMAZING!

Is everyone ready for their Plastic-Free July?  I just need my bamboo toothbrushes and I'll be set.

I am willing to coordinate an order/pickup from Scoop Marketplace if anyone needs items to help them with this challenge.  I have some bamboo toothbrushes coming already from another web-site and can share (new ones, not the ones I use, of course).

    https://www.scoopmarketplace.com/

Check out their on-line store (stock is limited).  E-mail me (KellyR@21acres.org) what you would like by June 26th (this Friday) and I will take care of ordering and getting the items and we can Venmo for payment.  I have already spoken with the owner to coordinate delivery as I want to avoid shipping and packaging.

Recology is a great source for Zero Waste but they say their stores are currently closed.

Hi all!  Welcome to the 21 Acres team.  I am very excited to do this challenge with such a great group.  I would love to hear what others are doing and learn new ideas as we get this underway next month.

One of my life strategies is to go for the low hanging fruit that gives you the biggest bang for your buck as the best place to start.

Please post to our team site often and let's support each other!
