Say No to Styrofoam
Throughout its life cycle, polystyrene (styrofoam) can harm people, communities, and the planet. I will refuse styrofoam whenever I can, making sure to kindly let people know why I'm asking for alternative packaging.

Reflection QuestionCommunity Say No to StyrofoamHow might styrofoam be an environmental justice and/or environmental racism issue in your community?
Shannon Rose 7/18/2022 3:20 PMToday, I decided to get lunch at a local takeaway place. Most of their meals come in styrofoam. I decided to order a different meal because I knew it would be wrapped in paper. -
Reflection QuestionLifestyle Support a Sharing EconomyWhat are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
Shannon Rose 7/13/2022 10:21 AMAs a homeowner, there are a lot of yard tools that are useful but rarely used. I live in the same town as my family and we can share these tools. -
Reflection QuestionCommunity Estimate My Plastic ConsumptionWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Shannon Rose 7/11/2022 9:41 AMI have a long way to go to be plastic free and I expected that my sum would be higher. Instead, I was using much less plastic than the average American. However, most of the areas where I scored lower were due to my not using those products. I need to focus more on the items that I do house that have single use plastics. -
Shannon Rose 7/07/2022 11:58 AMI added silverware to my work box. Now, when I am out for work, I will have my silverware and a cloth napkin to use vs. the ones provided by the restaurant/food truck. -
