I joined the challenge because it makes me consider new ways to live life daily without plastic, and I want to do all I can to hep the earth and improve the environment for wildlife.  The goals I chose  are areas where I need to work harder in my personal life.

It is great to focus on this for one month.  Each year it helps me add to my list of things I can do better and I appreciate the way this makes me "stretch" to be a better steward for the earth.

... I forgot my re-usable bags this morning when I had to run into Kroger.  But!  One of the Kroger employees scoured the check-out lines to find me a few paper bags.  :-)

I have done this before and I am thankful they at least have paper bags. I can then re-use the paper bags at the zoo for animal enrichment before the can be composted!

In my quest to reduce use of plastic, I am happy when I stumble upon other environmental positive information finds.  Today, in a Lunch and Learn for my profession, the talk focused on carbon sequestration... and how concrete functions as a carbon sink.    Just a little known fact to share with you all.

Community Learn about Local Environmental Justice Concerns
What are the most pressing environmental justice concerns in your city, town, or region? Were you aware of or affected by these local concerns before you did your research?

I had a difficult time finding new information on the Plastic Pollution front, but did find a website sharing which states have passed state-wide bills and who is in the process of doing so.  I may focus this as my helping a non-profit as well.  In the event anyone is interested got o https://www.environmentohio.org/feature/ohe/wildlife-over-waste.org

What are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?

The bamboo toothbrush has been something for whatever reason I have been reluctant to do.  Today I jumped with both feet, and found that this was something available at Meijer!!  It will help keep plastic (handles) out of the landfill.  The bristles are charcoal infusd / BPA free.  Better for the environment and healthier for me!

    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

I love being outdoors, and I find such joy in being able to plant seeds, see the plants grow, and then have a harvest.  Picking the ripe vegetables is the best reward for the hard work that goes into managing the garden.
