Michelle's Actions
Food
Use Reusables at Work
I will use reusable dishes and silverware when eating at work.
Food
Use Reusable Water Bottles
I will use a reusable bottle and stop purchasing bottled water, saving 2 disposable plastic bottle(s) a day.
Food
Buy Unpackaged Produce
I will purchase produce items without plastic packaging, making sure to wash them well before using them.
Lifestyle
Travel Toiletries
If traveling, I will reuse my old travel tubes to refill with my soaps or only bring bar soaps with me in a TSA approved reusable quart sized bag.
Lifestyle
Reusable Face Coverings
Disposable masks are made of mixed materials and not recyclable. When possible, I will reduce my waste while protecting myself and others by wearing a reusable face covering when in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
Lifestyle
Naked Bins
To the extent allowable in my community, I will either line my trash cans with repurposed newspaper or paper bags, or I will not line my trash cans at all.

Reflection QuestionCommunity Estimate My Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutralWhat did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?
Michelle Schneider 7/07/2020 9:40 AMI did not consider the plastic that cleaners come in or the plastic that shampoos and face creams use.-
Melanie Stewart 7/09/2020 2:40 PMI have found this too--and think it's the same for about everyone. There's so many things that come with some form of plastic! The focus seems to be on beverages and food items, and we forget how many other places it shows up.
But we don't have to be perfect--any change is a positive change. I switched from a shampoo and conditioner to a shampoo bar and I LOVE it! Got another one instead of body wash too!
