  • Reflection Question
Personal Care Pretty oh so Pretty
How can you advocate for the importance of reducing packaging to the rest of your friends, family and larger community?

    Candy Tong 7/30/2020 9:36 PM
I will introduce products with less package to my friends, and not wrapping gifts as what we care should be the value of the product but not the one-off package of the product.
  • Reflection Question
    Personal Care Lather Up
What are the economic and personal benefits of switching to bar soap/shampoo/conditioner or refillable bottle options?

    Candy Tong 7/30/2020 9:33 PM
Actually, it is easy to storage without the plastic container; this will help to reduce the shipment cost and carbon footprint incurred during transportation.
  • Reflection Question
    Personal Care Brusha Brusha Brusha
What are the benefits of switching to bamboo toothbrushes? How would you implore others in your community to make this switch as well?

    Candy Tong 7/30/2020 9:31 PM
you can help to reduce the use of plastic for the production of toothbrushes! Will introduce the product to my family by sending them as a gift, trying to change their buying habit.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Skip the Straw
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

    Candy Tong 7/23/2020 7:35 PM
Restaurants will not provide straws unless you asked when you ordered cold drink, That gives people a second to think if they really want it before asking, which help to decrease the use of straws.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

    Candy Tong 7/23/2020 7:30 PM
most of the fresh food are in separate packing, and the cashier will put extra plastic bag for individual item before you put it inside your shopping bag. The extra bag can be eliminated!
  • Reflection Question
Food Say No to Plastic Bags
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

    Candy Tong 7/22/2020 8:35 PM
It's not a difficult action, but a mindset / habit change! Always put a recycle bag in your bag when you are out, remember to put it back after use!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Use Reusables at Work
It is often true that we only have control over our own actions and not the collective community. How can you lead by example when it comes to switching disposables for reusable dishes in your community?

    Candy Tong 7/22/2020 8:32 PM
Do it by myself first as an example to influence people around.

  • Candy Tong 7/21/2020 1:48 AM
Recycle the plastic bags when you shop in wet market for vegetables or fruits, wash the bag, reuse it when it dried!
