Jo Marie Vacanti 7/20/2020 12:03 PMI am adding a walkway in my yard. All of the instructions say to place weed fabric down first; however, I find cardboard boxes work just as well. I open them up lengthwise and place them at the bottom sometimes overlapping. This method costs no money and water will drain through the cardboard. -
Jo Marie Vacanti 7/15/2020 10:08 AMI use paper bags from the grocery store under my mulch to prevent weeds. Newspaper is another alternative to combat weeds. They both break down which is an added bonus. -
Reflection QuestionFood Plant a GardenBesides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?
Jo Marie Vacanti 7/09/2020 9:41 AMI find having a garden very calming. The growing process isn't always easy but it is a great learning experience. I have a compost pile and it is amazing to see how leaves, grass and kitchen scraps breaks down into dark and silky dirt with many beneficial bugs. -
Jo Marie Vacanti 6/29/2020 6:56 AMI am excited about this challenge. As much as I promote and participate recycling, there are many areas where I need improvement. This ecochallenge will help push me further in finding plastic alternatives.
