I keep reusable straws in my desk and car, and if I’m given one at a drive thru without realizing it, put it in my glove box in case I need an extra in the future, vs just throwing it away right away. I have gotten out of the habit of refusing them at fast food and coffee joints, so I need to work hard at using my own reusables again.

How can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?

I actually rewash most of the plastic bags I do use, unless there’s been something super greasy in them or until they get a hole.  I dry them on an old baby bottle drying rack, so I’ve repurposed that piece of plastic!   I try not to use the plastic bags too often, but when I do, I try to use them multiple times.

How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

Easy. I used to take reusable bags everywhere I shopped, not just the grocery store.  Then Covid hit and we were told to stop using our own bags. I’ve been shopping at Aldi a lot lately, so since they don’t provide bags, I’m getting back in the habit of keeping bags in my car and taking them in again. I hate plastic bags!
