Never stop trying to make a difference. I overheard my mom saying "she's changed how I think about things...' in regards to waste and recycling, and it was a big win for me.

I see working in the garden as a zen moment.  I am able to focus on the moment and let my worries go.

My roommate likes straws to drink everything! I finally convinced her to use reusable ones, even though it took a while to convince her.

I have several Talenti jars around the house. I find they are perfect for single portion fruit or vegetable items.

The impact that surprised me was the effects plastic has on coral reefs.  The way it changes the dynamics and biosphere.

This has been an amazing experience.  I had no idea how much plastic was in my life. This will hopefully stick to help me make better choices in the future.

I saw lots of my neighbors while picking up trash. (And a lot of people I didn’t know). Several thanked me for what I was doing and I’m hoping it makes them consider picking litter up when they see it!

    Personal Care Pearly Whites
Currently most of the packaging for toothpaste is plastic. How can you advocate for more alternatives through your purchasing power and influence in community?

I can "vote with my dollars" by continuing to support the companies that chose to use alternative packaging.
  • Reflection Question
Personal Care Back in the Bowl
Why is it so difficult to understand the impacts our purchases and waste have on other people, animals, and places? How might your experience with this challenge impact your future consumption and choices?

It is difficult to understand the impacts of our purchases because there are so many processes involved in the sourcing, creation, transportation, use, and disposal of a product. Participating in this challenge helps keep this fresh in my mind, which has a positive impact on my consumption choices.
