Thank you Ecochallenge for a great month of learning!  Looking forward to new challenges and actions to try!

Wow  guys, looking at what we achieved as a team this month is pretty great.  No reason why we can't keep this rolling on into the future. Thanks for all the effort.

Super proud of all of our GSC teams! It's a fun challenge for a sobering global problem.

My last lunch with Sporkie for the plastic-free challenge, but definitely not the last time to use it. Looking forward to next week's lunches as well!

    Lifestyle Complete a Waste Audit
What did you learn about the waste you create? Where can you reduce the most?

    Martha Regester 7/31/2020 6:41 AM
My trash audit pointed out a couple areas I can be better. I already compost, use t-shirt rags for cleaning vs paper, and recycle/reuse when possible. But I am really bad about mail waste and could be better about online options and following up on the amount of junk mail. It's not horrible, but the political season is starting to rev up, which means fliers I don't want to read. What I have really noticed is the amount of recycling and trash that go to the curb - we have been limited in the plastics and cartons that go out, making careful shopping even more important!

We are almost done with this challenge but be sure to keep these practices going year round!

Wow, July is almost over! We did a great cookout last night for a summer camp and we used 100% compostable items! And the BBQ was pretty tasty.

Tomorrow is the last day guys, way to go, awesome effort, make sure to get in any last accomplishments/donations before then.

And since there are picnic tables in Country Park I peeked into what is being thrown away. Sure hate styrofoam, and lots of plastic clamshells and packaging. : ( What happened to packing a picnic at home and taking it with you?

Thought I'd go for one more plastic trash pick-up in July, and filled a bag from our parking through the top part of Country Park. My trash haul? Mostly plastic/styrofoam, and I sorted out the bottles I can recycle.
