This challenge showed me that the smallest of things can have a big impact.  I am more aware of how I impact the world at large and will continue these great practices.

Decided to plant Fall vegetables. The garden is a bit of a mess but hoping to have more time to make a really productive garden (enhanced of course, with my own compost).
  • Reflection Question
Food Use a Reusable Mug / Collapsible Cup
Since the restrictions that COVID-19 has required of our society, trying to use your own cup might present new barriers, as well as new opportunities for creative problem solving. How were you able to achieve success on this action? How can you make it a long-term habit?

I have started to bring my own mug to work everyday, as to cut down on the use of styrofoam cups! I have staged a coffee cup in my most common workplace in Hope's to keep this a long term habit.

I have loved this challenge! It has shown me how small changes in our everyday lives can make my household plastic free!

I have reused the same containers for years when traveling with toiletries.  Makes it easy to recognize and use.  Shared with my family that was traveling with me and commented on my "home" items.

I talked to my husband about simply ways we could change habits to become more plastic free. Packing our food for work is where we made the most changes!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Skip the Straw
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

I have not noticed a significant shift.  For those of us that use reusable straws, it is a no brainer and we are loyal to the habit.  For others, I think that they need to reflect on how they can impact our community by eliminating plastic.  Straws are so easy since you can still drink out of a cup without them.

I have not noticed a change in my community but when traveling I have noticed significant changes! I personally try to use a reusable straw or go without!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Use Reusable Utensils
How can you be an advocate for using reusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable food packaging or eating utensils, and how can you convince them of the need for change?

We tend to frequent local restaurants that use stainless steel silverware.  When taking out from restaurants that offer disposable utensils, I decline and just use my own at home.

Since working from home it has been a norm to have a reusable cup along with a stainless steel straw.  I had this same habit when I worked in the office and will continue to do so when I return.
