July 16 at 8:58 AMSince learning more about the impacts of PVC, I have been trying to research ways to reduce our use of PVC in animal enrichment toys and find an alternative, but haven't had much luck for animals that require an extremely strong material for safety reasons. Any zoo or aquarium members had any luck?

July 10 at 2:16 PMHmmm.... Connection. It makes me feel a little happier, knowing the guests at work see a nicer cleaner aquarium as they walk through the parking lot. Honestly, picking up litter makes me feel less connected to my community as I would run to grab lost trash unlike the others whom have left it there. Makes me sad really.

July 10 at 5:20 AM1) everyone is getting healthy nutrients & vitamins 2) nobody is getting dosed with artificial ingredients or gluten (the greatest evil) 3) these come in so much less packaging

July 10 at 5:17 AMSwitching without being able to see or smell a laundry product is scary. I want to ensure my laundry doesn't smell and doesn't irritate my skin.

We were able to talk about our personal struggles with plastic free choices, and where we have observed greenwashing. We then talked about ways to make sure that our recycling is not being contaminated.

July 3 at 5:55 AMThe biggest struggle I have with attempts to go plastic free is accessibility and price difference between products that traditionally come in single use plastic and those that don't. When I am on a strict monthly budget it can be tough to allow myself to buy the package free item, if it is a few dollars more, even though it is better for the...

July 2 at 5:49 AMI am super excited that plastic free ecochallenge is here!! Though it can be hard with the holiday to avoid plastic and waste, that is going to be my biggest goal while preparing my food and drinks for the 4th! excited to see what our team is able to band together to do!

June 21 at 8:48 AMSending a big welcome to all of the new members of our team!! We are so glad to have you! I hope everyone has the opportunity to take a look through the challenges and actions to determine what might work best for you and potentially actions your department could take at Mote, as well. For example, in the M&R department we have started...

June 14 at 10:28 AMHi team! Thank you for joining the Mammal and Reptile Team in working to increase awareness on the issue of plastic pollution, as well as in efforts to reduce our use of plastic. The animals that we take care of at Mote all represent species that are commonly impacted by plastic waste, and by starting habits during the month of July, hopefully...
