August 12 at 10:45 AMIt was a successful Plastic-Free July here at the Alaska SeaLife Center! Thank you to our staff and partners for partaking in efforts to rethink everyday and long term plastic usage! See you next year!

July 29 at 5:44 PMAlaska SeaLife Center has been so excited to celebrate Plastic-Free July! However, we're committed to year-round education of guests on ways they can reduce/reuse/refuse/recycle plastics. Here is one of our permanent installations that engage patrons as they enjoy the aquarium.

July 26 at 5:09 PMHere at ASLC, we have taken many measures to reduce waste overall. For our touch pools we offer guests cloth towels that can be washed and reused.

July 22 at 5:46 PMToday was Alaska SeaLife Center's second Beach Clean-up for Plastic-Free July! We had a stunning day to meander the beaches, picking up mostly fishing line and occasional trash. Thank you to everyone that came out!
-
July 21 at 5:48 PMThis Plastic-Free July, ASLC is engaging our younger guests (and older ones too!) in plastic-free crafts. This is an excellent chance to chat with folks about how they can make small changes to reduce/reuse/replace/refuse/rethink plastics in their life.

July 20 at 3:23 PMHere in Alaska, we strive to move from "wish-cycling" to REcycling as much plastic as we can. Our recycling guidelines instruct that plastics must be #1 bottles or #2 jugs, to empty and rinse the bottles, and label are okay to leave on. Knowing what's allowed in your community makes for much more efficient recycling!
-
July 19 at 3:26 PMAlaska SeaLife Center has partnered with businesses in Seward, AK this July to reduce, reuse, refuse, rethink, and recycle plastic. Currently 10 businesses have made the pledge! We're proud of our community!
-
July 18 at 3:08 PMDid you know?! On average, Americans use about 500 million straws per day. That's enough to fill up 125 school buses a day, or 46,400 school buses a year! Stop by and check out our ENORMOUS straw sculpture, aimed at bringing awareness to plastic usage in our Rocky Coast Discovery area.
-
July 18 at 12:19 PMOur first Beach Clean-Up of 2023 was a success! We had community members, ASLC staff, and even a girl scout troop turn out to take part! We look forward to our next one!
