    My trusty dehydrator "died" after 15 years of solid service. However, my husband was able to take it a part - it's a simple design and assembly - and buy a replacement thermal fuse. It came yesterday and is now repaired! The machine is all plastic, so REPAIR is an important part of decreasing plastic use. Also, the lid to my food...

    The food waste part of my audit showed me that I have a lot of scraps that could be composted instead. Also, that I need to be more cautious of take out containers and when eating out to maybe bring a container with me for unexpected left overs to bring home with me without using a carry out container.

    Even though I feel like I do ALOT to decrease my plastic intake compared to other americans, by footprint felt really high. Really, I consume more plastic than the average European?? Disappointing.

    I don't think bar soap will work for me personally, but I am going to get one for my husband. I'm excited to get conditioner from the bulk section at my local grocery!

    I checked in with my dentist (who is very much an environmentally-minded, zero waste type of guy), who said flouride was really important for teeth protection against decay. But homemade toothpaste would't have this additive. Are there alternatives?
