    Pets Homemade Pet Treats
How could you reduce your waste even further (i.e. by making pet treats out of kitchen scraps or about-to-go-bad produce)?

It was much easier than I thought to make the treats and the best part is that they are healthy for people as well. Salmon jerky is really pretty good.

Today I joined the local Buy Nothing facebook group. Not plastic-specific but it's great to find like-minded people out there!

    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

Doing things with your hands is also good for your mental health. Spending time growing a garden helps with purpose and gives you an opportunity to share your bounty with others. Plus, it's fun to watch things grow!

Our office has adopted 2 bioswales in our neighborhood which we help to maintain by picking up litter and clearing debris.  It feels great to be part of a  team to help our streets look better and keep our plants healthy so they can keep us healthy!

It made me feel really good to be a part of a group that cares about cleaning up our streets. It's sad to see how much trash is just dropped as people walk by.

Community Estimate My Plastic Consumption and Go #PlasticNeutral
What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

I was surprised at how much plastic we actually use. It's probably an underestimate too. We use over 60 kg of plastic a year just with our everyday purchases. It was also very inexpensive to offset our plastic use. knowledge is power, now to change some more habits to plastic free!

Personal Care Fresh as a Daisy
Do some research on the toxic side affects of aluminum deodorant. After reading the side effects, can you think of instances where you may have experienced the side effects from this form of deodorant?

I don't know that I've had any negative side effects from aluminum in my antiperspirant. I did some research and most deodorants don't carry aluminum in them. I have has some bumps in my arm pits after shaving but that's probably just razor burn. I'm excited to see if this switch helps reducing the bumps.

I haven't completed anything yet... but hopefully this weekend I'll have time to plant some herbs and learning about plastics! What is everyone else planning to do?

At the grocery store this weekend I realized how difficult living totally plastic-free would be.  With the exception of bulk foods and produce almost everything has some plastic packaging incorporated.    :-(

It's so hard, the last time I went they weren't charging for plastic bags at check out but were charging 5 cents for paper bags... seems so backwards.

This morning I was thinking about how the pandemic forced us to change from liquid soap to bars of soap because suddenly liquid soap was no longer available. But I'm thankful for that now because we're buying less plastic - no more plastic pump bottles and refill bottles!  I'm a bar soap convert.
