This has been an interesting experience.  Thanks to Yes! for promoting and leading my team. Onward with renewed vigor to just say NO to plastic at personal and policy levels.

A family health crisis has made a major adjustment to my life. I'm still taking trash pickup walks every day, working in the garden, minimizing plastic use, etc., but there has just been no time to record actions on a regular basis. I have enjoyed what I've learned and especially liked knowing that there's a big team working together - not just one little old chicken mama.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

Done. It was not that easy finding stores after COVID that still sell produce individually and not wrapped in plastic. However, I found 2 stores that do and complained to a couple of others.

I have been using my own reusable grocery bags for 40 years.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Make My Own
How do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?

It feels good to eat less processed foods.
  • Reflection Question
    Food Minimize Packaging
With the added mindfulness of reducing your packaging, what have you noticed about the amount and type of single use plastics used for packaging when you shop in the grocery store?

Only certain stores don’t portion out foods into individual portions contained in plastic. I shopped in the few stores that sell items in paper or individually without plastic
  • Reflection Question
Food Advocate For More Food Packaging Options
Single use plastics have become normalized in our society to the point that most people don't see them as a problem. What would you say to a friend, colleague, or family member who may not understand why these disposables are an issue?

I would simply explain the situation and mention alternatives, like particular local stores that sell produce by individual pieces and reusable bags they can use.

This was a fabulous experience.  I learned a lot from the learn more tabs that I have been able to take many actions to change my behaviors relating to plastic.  Will this info still be available somewhere?

    • Yay! So glad you had a good experience and got a lot out of it. Yes, e will keep this site live for a few months so you can reference the resources. You can also follow us on social media or continue receiving our emails for more resources.

Participating in this challenge was great.  I have recycled for many years but learned so much because of the learn more tabs.  Will some of those links continue to be available?

I have learned so many new ways this month to not use plastic so much.  It really is great to find these new ways we can use less plastic in a easy and good way.  Blessings to all and to a less plastic world
