It's the last day of Plastic Free July but it's certainly not the last day of choosing plastic-free habits! I can't wait to take the lessons I've learned this month into the year ahead!

I baked a load of bread today instead of buying sandwich bread in plastic!

    Food Plant a Garden
Besides having access to fresh herbs and vegetables, what benefits will you see from growing your own garden?

    Sinclair Boggs 7/27/2020 1:20 PM
For me, there are so many benefits of having a garden! It's a great way to be active outside, save money, reduce the carbon footprint of my meals and more.

How does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?

    Sinclair Boggs 7/27/2020 1:18 PM
Unfortunately, picking up litter is a reminder of just how much single-use plastic my community is using and just how far we have to go. Almost all of the litter I see is plastic. It shows me how important it is to keep spreading information and action steps for reducing plastic waste with the community.

I'm going to make DIY bottle cleaning tablets (for hard-to-clean water bottles, like the insulated ones that can't go in the dishwasher) tonight! I hope it works!

I get irrationally excited when I find a Plastic free version of a kind of produce that I like but have a hard time finding without packaging.
    Today it was spinach!!

It's great to see companies stepping up and creating plastic-free solutions!

Here's the whole article about Dole's new goals:

What did you find out about your plastic consumption by using the calculator? What did or didn't surprise you?

    Sinclair Boggs 7/22/2020 11:24 AM
I had a hard time with this calculator because it's clearly made for people who have not made lots of plastic-free swaps yet. It was a good reminder of how many typically plastic-centric items I have already been able to replace in my daily life. Year three of the challenge and lots of actions have stuck with me!

  • Sinclair Boggs 7/21/2020 11:30 AM
I'm definitely not getting the chance to pick up as much trash this week because it's just too hot to be outside. Trying to focus on the positive and what actions I still CAN do!

  • Sinclair Boggs 7/19/2020 1:21 PM
Baskets provided on the beach to encourage walkers to pick up trash!
