Mend and Repair

We've all got it - that thing in the back of our closet we keep saying we'll fix "one day." I will make today that day by learning how to mend or repair ripped or broken items in my home - or by finding a local offering to do it for me.

Embrace Imperfection

Eliminating 100% of all plastic from our lives simply isn't possible. Throughout this month, I will embrace imperfection in my plastic-free journey while exploring and testing new ways to reduce my plastic footprint.

My pet is getting used to the home made meals, and expects them now!

I reduced my plastics use in the kitchen by preparing my pet's dinner with my own. My pet loves baked chicken, and sometimes I think too much when he won't eat dog food!

I'm not always planning to use less plastic but find myself doing so around my home and at work.

That's great and I'll have to pay more attention to my cosmetics. I look for cruelty-free but rarely look at the packaging.

Working these Ecochallenges has really changed my consumption habits in a way that's good for the planet! And I'm not the only one. I introduced a friend to ecochallenge.org, and she just told me that when she bought an over-the-counter eye product earlier today that she eliminated one item on the basis of excess plastic packaging...something she said she wouldn't have considered a few years ago.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Family + Pets Homemade Pet Food
Does making your own pet food seem like a habit you can keep up in the long term? What else can you do to reduce your use of plastic packaging that can come from taking care of your pet's needs?

I've begun preparing my meals instated of purchasing. My pet loves an occasional chicken breast, frozen berries, and mixed vegetables.

I'm able to become active on a plastic-free journey by setting achievable and realistic goals. I can celebrate the small steps.
