Take the pre-survey!
Help us make the Plastic Free Ecochallenge the best it can be! Take the challenge pre-survey (and look out for the post-survey at the end of the challenge!) so we can better understand the impact the challenge has and how we can improve in the future. Plus, you'll earn points for completing it! Thank you!
Family + Pets
Discover Together
I will spend 30 minutes educating my family on the basics of living a reduced/no-plastic lifestyle.
Family + Pets
Homemade Pet Food
I will prepare my own pet food and/or treats to avoid plastic packaging.
Family + Pets
Thrifty Pets
I will find secondhand sources for my pet's water/food dishes, collars or leashes.
Study
Better Highlighters
Instead of buying new plastic highlighters, I will simply use colored pencils instead for all of my highlighting needs.
Family + Pets
Mend and Repair
We've all got it - that thing in the back of our closet we keep saying we'll fix "one day." I will make today that day by learning how to mend or repair ripped or broken items in my home - or by finding a local offering to do it for me.
Study
Buy Only What I Need
I will not buy anything except items required for health and safety.

Embrace Imperfection
Eliminating 100% of all plastic from our lives simply isn't possible. Throughout this month, I will embrace imperfection in my plastic-free journey while exploring and testing new ways to reduce my plastic footprint.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

m n the ocean! 7/24/2024 11:45 AMI reduced my plastics use in the kitchen by preparing my pet's dinner with my own. My pet loves baked chicken, and sometimes I think too much when he won't eat dog food! -
m n the ocean! 7/24/2024 11:43 AMI'm not always planning to use less plastic but find myself doing so around my home and at work.-
m n the ocean! 7/25/2024 6:07 PMThat's great and I'll have to pay more attention to my cosmetics. I look for cruelty-free but rarely look at the packaging. -
Mary Hanks 7/24/2024 1:13 PMWorking these Ecochallenges has really changed my consumption habits in a way that's good for the planet! And I'm not the only one. I introduced a friend to ecochallenge.org, and she just told me that when she bought an over-the-counter eye product earlier today that she eliminated one item on the basis of excess plastic packaging...something she said she wouldn't have considered a few years ago.
