  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Advocate for Office Reusables
What are some of the cases you could make to an employer for why switching to durable dishes and utensils is actually in their best interest as well?

Other then the obvious it saves money, it also reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfills everyday. It allows durable dishes to be used to there full potential as well.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community Host a Watch Party
How does hosting a watch party help you to get to know your guests, connect them to the cause you are focusing on, and build your community?

It did help connect then to the problem, My MIL likes to buy things and uses alot of plastics so I think the watching a documentary really helped her reflect on some things. Hopefully she'll try to reduce her usage of plastic waste.

Along with the resource links given, I highly recommend reading "As long as grass grows." It discusses native peoples' resistance to environmental injustice and discusses broken land treaties and incursions.

This book is free on Amazon Audio if you have membership.

The first-ever human-made plastic was made from cellulose in 1855, so it was a bioplastic.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Study Dig into Bioplastics
What did you learn about bioplastic production and disposal? Did anything surprise you? Are bioplastics accepted by your city's waste management?

    Dominique Hunt's avatar
    Dominique Hunt 7/27/2023 7:29 PM
Bioplastics will naturally decompose in three to six months, but the average plastic takeaway container may take around 450 years to disintegrate. I believe OSU is working on getting more substantial plastics on campus as most places don't accept them.

Cleaning up around my community just feels good. That's the best way to describe it, giving back to my tribe and cleaning the grounds feels you with a sense of pride.
