Long hot morning,  cool down with soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone because it means no single use plastic!

We're having a cornhole tournament for Zoo Keeper Week next week. Got the boards all setup today. We're super proud to say that everything was made from recycled goods, from the boards, bags and even the tournament bracket!

Had a 5 minute conversation with a guest yesterday on why we no longer sell bottle water but instead sell canned water. They said that they understood the reasoning but just couldn't wrap their heads around canned water.

It's my first day back to work from having surgery. I couldn't believe the amount of waste at the hospital. I know that they need to be clean, but is it really any cheaper to have everything be so flimsy and disposable than make it out of metal and clean it?

A single, fresh donut is sold in a plastic bag but a dozen donuts are sold in a chip board box. Guess the department is getting donuts this morning!

After watching a big fireworks display last night and seeing everyone's little fireworks beforehand, I never realized how much plastic wrap there is in fireworks. I was talking to a few people about it and told them that the plastic wrap can be recycled at their grocery stores with the plastic shopping bags and we got into a long discussion about all the other things that can and cannot be recycled. My kids were incredibly bored but it was a good conversation.

Explaining to people at a cook out that all you have to do is buy drinks in aluminum cans or glass bottles to avoid single use plastic. Minds blown!
