Caryl Thompson 7/30/2023 4:45 PMFound 2 great recipes today to use the veggies we received in this week's CSA. Both were really good -- an apple cider vinegar based coke slaw (nice and crispy) and an herbed potato salad.-

Allie Hobgood 7/31/2023 10:12 AMYummo! I had an herbed potato salad at one of the BBQ places over here years ago (might have been beach bully) and I am still obsessed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Give Some Green GratitudeIn what ways is social media an effective tool for sharing your values?
Caryl Thompson 7/26/2023 3:31 AMMy friend, Stacy, sent me a picture showing the reusable travel utensils in use during her vacation to Cape Cod.-
Ava Kruciak 7/28/2023 12:24 PMThat's super cool. It's such a good way to share information, and a great way to promote the eco friendly lifestyle!

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Choose Reusable Food StorageHow can you think outside the box (or bag!) when it comes to disposables?
Caryl Thompson 7/25/2023 3:49 AMBring your own! Utensils. Have a to go box in the car. Ask for leftovers to be wrapped in foil instead of plastic. -
Caryl Thompson 7/23/2023 5:38 AMIt's a sad commentary when finding plastic free items feels like a super secret scavenger hunt.-
Allie Hobgood 7/27/2023 12:59 PMHurts my soul.

Caryl Thompson 7/19/2023 8:50 AMI'm embracing leftovers as a "green initiative." So far today, that's the biggest thing I have to share! -
Caryl Thompson 7/11/2023 3:24 AMI recently purchased sunscreen made by Little Hands Hawaii. It is zinc (reef safe), and the packaging is cardboard! So eco-friendly. (And it feels really good, and works well too.)-
Allie Hobgood 7/20/2023 5:48 AMGlad you found a good one!

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Use Reusable UtensilsHow can you be an advocate for using reusables instead of disposables for the rest of your community? Where are they currently dependent on disposable food packaging or eating utensils, and how can you convince them of the need for change?
Caryl Thompson 7/09/2023 8:18 AMLearning how long it takes for the disposables to decompose was an eye opener for me! I received a set of bamboo to-go ware that travels with me in my purse; it's sparked conversation with my friends who were not aware of the issues.-
Ava Kruciak 7/09/2023 9:30 AMIt is such a complex kind of thing and so many people don't know about it!

Caryl Thompson 7/08/2023 8:58 AMI was really proud to see the Watershed Warriors in action this morning. They are doing an amazing job teaching guests (and staff like me) about how long it takes different items to decompose, what types of critters live in our marsh, and even how to make a solution for bubbles!-

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity Join a Cleanup EffortHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
Caryl Thompson 7/08/2023 8:56 AMProud to be part of a group of like-minded people who are trying to make a difference (even though it can feel like the marine debris is never ending).-
Ava Kruciak 7/11/2023 5:14 AMYou are right, there is a ton of marine debris out there but through community and like-minded people, we can work our way towards the future and a better, more eco-friendly tomorrow.

REFLECTION QUESTIONKitchen Try a New RecipeHow do you feel about being more involved in the food preparation process? Joyful, overwhelmed, engaged, empowered? What are the benefits of choosing to process or produce your own food instead of buying it pre-processed?
Caryl Thompson 7/08/2023 8:54 AMI'm not much of a cook (just ask Jeff), but I do enjoy the taste of fresh, local veggies. Last night's tomato & mozzarella cheese salad was so very refreshing. And as a bonus, I like that my money is supporting a small, local business.
