I didn't do everything I wanted to, but learned a lot. I will continue to be mindful about plastics!
  • Reflection Question
    Food Buy Unpackaged Produce
Why do you think these produce products started amassing so much plastic packaging? Who is the plastic packaging really serving -- the consumer, the producer, or someone else?

    Kathryn Jones 7/31/2019 5:27 PM
Cheaper packaging for goods aids the manufacturer
  • Reflection Question
    Food Skip the Straw
Have you noticed a shift in your community as more messaging about reusable straws becomes mainstream? Cite some examples.

    Kathryn Jones 7/31/2019 5:25 PM
No plastic stares ever!  Hope the city steps up to the challenge soon!

So it is almost over. Points that is. I think we need to do what we can to make sure we continue .

  • Connie Flores 7/31/2019 4:34 PM
I made the effort to recycle our plastics, use my own Tupperware for take-home meals and (remembering) to bring the reusable sacks for groceries. Missed a couple times, but I think this doable
  • Reflection Question
    Food Lobby for Reusables
What are some of the cases you could make to an employer for why switching to durable dishes and utensils is actually in their best interest as well?

    Deb Cook 7/31/2019 3:52 PM
Investing in reusables can ultimately reduce an employers' overhead by reducing their out of pocket expenses on disposables, reduces amount of trash picked p each week and, personally, I feel that improving one's actions in one area can have a ripple effect in others.
  • Reflection Question
    Community Keep My Community Clean

    Deb Cook 7/31/2019 3:48 PM
There's ownership in helping to maintain my neighborhood!

This EcoChallenge was fun and easier than I thought it would be.  I was happy to realize that I was already trying to not use single use plastics so this wasn't an inconvenience or a chore.
