As the challenge ends I've been thinking about how we got to this stage. It's wild to me how easily society became conditioned to buy single-use plastics for everything. Leaving out the natural resources aspect, how are we all willing to spend money repeatedly on things we throw away? We may as well be burning piles of cash! I suppose the...

Successfully used the old white vinegar trick to clean a shower liner and got it back to white again - yay!

It's fun to rework old clothing or even vintage sheets and curtains to make new things at no cost. I'm a big fan of make do and mend and fortunately inherited my seamstress great-grandmother's sewing machine. A good vintage trick is to use removable collars, cuffs, jabots, or ties to vary the look of simple basics. Swapping out buttons or...

I was happy to get a good score on the sustainable fashion calculator but horrified at the statistic that most people just throw away their old clothes. Why wouldn't they at least donate??

Too few consumers have access to industrial composting facilities that accept bioplastics, plus producing any type of plastic consumes too many resources. We...

I'm feeling especially thankful that our new office renovation had water refill stations installed. Our floor of 8 people has saved 1,166 bottles in under 8 months. In this heat I'm pretty sure at least four/day of those are me, LOL!

I'm proud that my parents have adapted to a lot of zero-waste habits since I started doing PFJ. Switching my dad to refillable coffee pods was a huge win - I wasn't sure it would last but he's a convert!

Today I was reading about energy-related CO2 emissions and learned that Internet use is 3.7% of global emissions, equal to all air traffic in the world! Deleting unnecessary files and media saves CO2 and helps devices last longer. I personally love that freeing feeling of deleting old files so I'm setting a reminder to do this more regularly.

Trying to research a farmers' market near me that looked to have closed during COVID but may be back. Have to swing by and hope they are open on my next day off.
