Hoping that we can make a difference. In fact, I know we already are! As this year's Plastic Free EcoChallenge closes, thank you to everyone who participated! I'm really in good company here! ;)

I don't buy food in plastic containers or wrapped in plastic if at all possible. I save plastic bags to reuse as trash can liners or containers for food, office supplies, or anything I can think of. I also buy compostable trash bags for my larger trash cans. Sadly, almost everything comes wrapped in plastic. So, you do what you can. I'm showing...

Food storage containers are re-usable here at my home. We have the same, washed and dried bags as we had at least a few years ago. They still work and we are glad to keep them used. Plus we even re-use the paper boxes that come with food orders from restaurants to carry new picnic snacks, etc. We wash them and re-use.

I did the challenge to become more aware of my plastic choices and bring awareness to my EarthCares team and board. I am sharing our team data with them, and we plan to participate as a congregation in the future.

This year, I noticed that I had done many of the challenges and continued them since last year's, so I didn't feel like I had much to offer this time. But I kept the spirit going in between EcoChallenges by supporting a friend who was writing this kid's book: Nature Ninja Saves the Natural World. I know that no one thing, all by itself, solves...

I'm not surprised 'flushables' don't break down. I don't use the thicker TP either and even some kleenex has changed it's formula. You can throw it in the washing machine and it comes out nearly intact.

Plastic is a BIG problem because it's EVERYWHERE. Some things, like bread, I'm not sure how you get around BUT when aware & willing to buy individual veggies & fruit AND not put in another plastic bag, it's possible to cut way down on my waste. I am able to compost which was "big" and now ask neighbors for their food scrapes...
