July 30 at 7:55 PMHoping that we can make a difference. In fact, I know we already are! As this year's Plastic Free EcoChallenge closes, thank you to everyone who participated! I'm really in good company here! ;)

July 30 at 7:53 PMI don't buy food in plastic containers or wrapped in plastic if at all possible. I save plastic bags to reuse as trash can liners or containers for food, office supplies, or anything I can think of. I also buy compostable trash bags for my larger trash cans. Sadly, almost everything comes wrapped in plastic. So, you do what you can. I'm showing...

July 30 at 8:01 AMFood storage containers are re-usable here at my home. We have the same, washed and dried bags as we had at least a few years ago. They still work and we are glad to keep them used. Plus we even re-use the paper boxes that come with food orders from restaurants to carry new picnic snacks, etc. We wash them and re-use.

July 30 at 6:31 AMThis ecochallenge has made me more aware of how much plastic I use and how to make smart substitutions. The short educational links were a real education. I learned so much about micro plastics and other dangers of plastics to our environment!! It has changed how I view packaging forever.

July 30 at 6:26 AMMy husband started using these but is convinced not to use them ever again.

July 30 at 6:22 AMI did the challenge to become more aware of my plastic choices and bring awareness to my EarthCares team and board. I am sharing our team data with them, and we plan to participate as a congregation in the future.

July 29 at 9:02 PMThis year, I noticed that I had done many of the challenges and continued them since last year's, so I didn't feel like I had much to offer this time. But I kept the spirit going in between EcoChallenges by supporting a friend who was writing this kid's book: Nature Ninja Saves the Natural World. I know that no one thing, all by itself, solves...

July 29 at 12:01 PMI'm not surprised 'flushables' don't break down. I don't use the thicker TP either and even some kleenex has changed it's formula. You can throw it in the washing machine and it comes out nearly intact.

July 28 at 10:04 AMPlastic is a BIG problem because it's EVERYWHERE. Some things, like bread, I'm not sure how you get around BUT when aware & willing to buy individual veggies & fruit AND not put in another plastic bag, it's possible to cut way down on my waste. I am able to compost which was "big" and now ask neighbors for their food scrapes...
