Reducing coltan mining is a biggie for me.

I reinforced the thighs of my favorite jean shorts. The fabric had gotten worn because of thigh-rub friction.

Textile recycling is incredibly complicated for a myriad of reasons. After learning about the textile recycling process, how has your relationship with your clothing changed?

I'm paying more attention to the wear and tear on my clothes. I can preemptively reinforce some of my clothing that, do to friction, is more prone to wear thin and develop holes. This will help extend the life of my garment.

Apart from the usual benefit, which is reducing the amount of micro plastics that are released into the world, it will also reduce chemical waste and air pollution from plastic making companies.

As you have reduced your spending, what have you noticed about your 'health and safety' purchasing habits? How might this change your longer term purchasing decisions?

My health and safety purchases are pretty minimal. I actually thought that I spent more than I do on those things, but it mostly consists of necessary prescription medication and sunscreen. I switched to bamboo toothbrushes last year, and I buy them I bulk, so that's one purchase that lasts a whole year. I'd like to be able to find good, environmentally conscious feminine pantyliners that work great for me, but I haven't yet.

I enjoyed hearing what everyone had to say! We paused multiple times to have conversations about some topics brought up in the film and it was interesting hearing different perspectives!

A big question that came up for me in an election year is how will our political environment locally and globally change environmental justice? I found some resources from the US government and it's an eye opener to see how many disadvantaged communities there are across the US. https://screeningtool.geoplatform.gov/en/#3/33.47/-97.5

It's going well. Skipping plastic bags is easier that it seemed at first. most of the time I only need 1 bag anyways. Reducing the amount of plastic when in context, also provides that extra motivation to keep the habit and make small changes that have impact on a bigger scale.

Did anything you learned surprise you about plastics, fossil fuels, and oil subsidies? If we eliminate oil subsidies, what are some externalities we, our communities, and our society may face as a result? What's one way you'll advocate for social justice alongside these necessary environmental protections?

I know they mentioned a lot of the growth in fossil fuel plastics being marketed overseas due to US not growing as much that way as it is overseas. What do you think is the cultural differences that leads the U.S. to be rethinking their mindset more than some overseas areas?

I feel like there is a lot of room for greenwashing within the bio plastic field as it grows and everyone should do research on each product
