I switched to bar shampoo, conditioner, and soap that all come in cardboard or compostable packaging over a year ago. The bar shampoo and conditioner have lasted much longer than I thought they would, and also leave my hair feeling much healthier and softer. Before I was probably going through 3-4 bottles of shampoo every year. Now, I’ve had...

I switched to the Cora reusable disc over a year ago and have had zero regrets. The disc and vegan leather case that it came with cost me about $30. That alone has saved me over $100/year in other menstrual products. I also have never experienced a leak with the disc, it’s much more comfortable, and I don’t have to worry about changing it...

I learned about bamboo toothbrushes when my coworkers were participating in the plastic free challenge last summer, and when I saw them available for purchase at Dollar Tree I knew I had to make the switch. I spoke with my husband about the benefits of using bamboo toothbrushes and bought him one as well, and now he tells others about...

Carrying all of the groceries inside without a bag is challenging. Getting them in the car is easier, if a bit tedious, with a shopping cart. I already own reusable produce bags made with recycled plastic, and even though the carbon offset of producing reusable bags is dubious, at least I'm using what I already have.

To curb hunger, eating snacks and meals with more protein and fiber - along with water - will help keep you full for longer.

Someone can express themselves without buying new clothes by upcycling their existing wardrobe, making repairs and alterations, and using their clothes for longer until replacing them is really necessary. Thrift shopping might work as well.

I spent most of my day yesterday working in the garden to plant more vegetables. I am excited to start canning things later in the season.
